Jungmoon on Illegal Vacation Day
Funny story: Ms. Kang, my boss, called me yesterday to tell me a bill for another apartment would be delivered in my mailbox and could I bring it to work? I said, "sure, tomorrow." And she said, "No, bring it Thursday, you don't have to come back until Thursday."
Now, I knew full well that I had to return Wednesday but I wasn't arguing with the boss :) so I said, "okay, nooo problem."
This morning phone rings. Naturally, me no answer. Then I get a text message from Seng Mi who works in the office. It reads: "Amanda where are you??? You are supposed to be in today."
I reply: "Oh, Ms. Kang said I didn't have to come back until Thursday and I wasn't going to argue with her. I drank a lot last night (in truth only 2 draft beers but what do they know?), taking a sick day then, thanks!"
And no further messages from them. He he he.
It seemed like a really nice day today, so I decided to pick my bike up from Mr. Lee's -- I'd taken it in to have the back tire replaced as it blew out on me -- and drove to JungMoon Beach, which is way on the other side of the Island. Having never driven there before ( I took the bus in the summer, as it was before I'd bought my scooter), I didn't know how to get there but just followed the signs and ended up taking the scenic route through the hills. Snow covered the ground up there and the roads were all sharp curves so I had to drive really slow. Even with my winter gloves and face cover it was cold though.
About two hours later, I did arrive. Had lunch at Gecko's, a Western chain restaurant from Seoul that everyone has been talking about since it opened about two months ago, had the steak sandwich, but it was sliced bulgogi steak and wasn't that great.
Then I went to Jungmoon beach and saw some Sea lions and penguins! And a camel! Those were pretty cool. Sea lions were HUGE! And they had fur and whiskers. Funny looking things. I took lots of video and will try posting it here for you.
Kind of got lost on the way back, kept missing the exit for the highway. Want to get a new Scooter, trade mine in, because though Mr. Lee changed the tire, it feels like wrong. Like it doesn't have proper traction and could spin out on me. I didn't feel comfortable going fast and felt like too sharp a turn -- which wasn't even that sharp -- would make me lose control of it. I think he screwed up the tire change, put the wrong size on or an old one.
Now my vacation is over and it's back to work tomorrow. Ugh.
Also, some gremlins came in and messied up my apartment again. Darn gremlins. ;)
