Jungmoom & Udo Isand
First, lets start with the weekend. Saturday we all went down to Jungmoon beach --which is the most popular/touristy beach on the island (albeit the opposite end from Jeju-si) -- and it was hot. Hungry from our long scooter ride, we ate lunch at the famous Gecko's restaurant, lasagna for me, then went down to the beach.
Anne-marie, Bill and I had travelled down together, Lisa and her gang and Alicia and Kyle and others showed up too. We tanned and swam -- the tide was strong and so were the waves for a while -- for a few hours. Then most everyone left to go eat sushimi from the Henya divers straight from the ocean, but we (Alicia, Ann-marie and me) stayed as we were still full from Gecko's. anyway, I'd bought this book called: "Honk If You Love Real Men"; 4 erotic romance stories. hehehe. Beach reading -- don't judge! ;)
I started reading aloud and the girls edged in closer, ate almonds with more vigor and pipped an occasional: "C'mon!" and "Oh, baby". In the end I lent Alicia my book.
The night before we'd gone to open mike night at Led Zepplin which was great as usual. Forgot to mention that. The Sassenfrash - their group name - told a hilarious Korean folktake that they turned into being about Isaac. And the bands played and we all had a good time.
Udo Island -- had to go there for an outreach with the school on Monday. Arrived at our Center at 730am and drove to Sunrise Peak Harbour then took the 15min long ferry to the island. Taught the kids for 2 hours, at lunch, then played cricket with them in the afternoon. Headed back to the mainland and instead of going home, Erin, Doug, Lucy, Woody and me snorkled at the rocky ass beach near Sunrise Peak. I slipped and scraped my back trying to get out, and Doug did the sweetest thing by bringing me my sandles when I was trying to get over the rocks filled with sand beetles (as I'd swam to the shore down the beach from where we'd left our things), bless his soul.
But I enjoyed snorkelling so much, I ordered a set from Costco in Seoul and am hoping it comes before this weekend.
I LOVE SUMMER HERE! Amazing! The next step is to buy a tent and camp out at the beach. Oh....heaven!!!
