40-Day Juice Fast

In an attempt to rid myself of many bad habits (tobacco, alcohol, bad food and character vices) I've decided to do a 40 day juice fast. All the websites I visited said it was so good for your body; digestion, colon, organs. Plus, in the 6 months I've been here I haven't lost 1 kg. Grrr.

I was going to go to a "detox center" in Thailand but I don't have enough vacation time plus it's crazy expensive; around $700 USD for one week -- and they don't even feed ya! Oh, but they have yoga classes every day and the scenery is spectacular. Well, they've got the market on that that's for sure. So I decided to just do one here. I have a yoga dvd after all!

Today is my second day (well in 20 min it will be). I really hope to succeed so send me some prayers! I'm sure I'll really need them. Did I mention my work is right below a McDonalds???

The interent is back up and running and I couldn't be happier. I talked to one of the guys in my class who happens to major in computers and told him my situation (namely that the interent comes and goes) and he told me that's because I'm getting the internet free from the person in the apartment next door and when they turn off their equiptment I get cut off. He called the internet company and I have to email them a passport photo and copy of my ARC card and bank book but i'll just ride it out and wait to see how long this free ride lasts...maybe.

I quit smoking for exactly one day.

About 10 days a man in my 7 a.m. class stormed out because one of the other men "Peter" called him a dog and natually he got insulted, yelled at him and left.

My extra-curricular teaching is scarce these past few weeks because of the vacation (students get 6 weeks off now for their winter vacation). Last Saturday morning I showed up for my teaching job an hour early cause I was too hung over to read the clock or think properly. Thankfully, Julie was gracious enough to let me nap on her couch until the class started. But it's all good, there isn't the bad feelings about drinking here as it's a huge part of their culture. One thing I actually like -- If you don't get pissed every now and again your a bit of an outcast actually. Seriously, if you want a promotion get liquored with the boss.

Johnny came by my apartment last night for the first time since Louise left. We had a civil I daresay even friendly conversation. Went to the pub after and met some people I knew but it was more or less a bust and I was home back in bed at the stroke of midnight.

Asked my bosses when I can expect to get my moneys (bonus, flight ticket, pension and June's pay) so I have an idea when I can leave and thus plan my summer. Mr. Kim responded by saying: "I think you asked me too early". And Mr. Che said I'd have my money before my ARC expired July 14th. Well, that narrows it down...

Long and short of it, I may be stuck here for up to two weeks after my contract is finished waiting for them to pay me my moneys. Living in a hotel no less. Gotta work on that. Told them I want to leave asap but Mr. Che only shook his head as if to say: "impatient foreigners." Just have to wait it out.

Joined a site where I can download all kinds of movies and stuff (it's not a great site actually, not a huge selection). Saw a documentary about 9/11 and how it was a government conspiracy; some pretty convincing stuff. Also downloaded "faces of death". Saw a brutal video of that Nick guy who got his head cut off (literally) by some Arabs. It almost make me sick.

Well, that's about it for this weeks edition. Write more when something else happens. Promise it'll get lots more interesting in the summer...

Weeza's pic of an Indian Sunset
Louise and Chris New Years 2007

Snapped this one on my way to work one morning: workmen warming themselves by the fire.

How many fingers am I holding up?

working on those photography skills

Louise looking bored with Andrew the bartender. I think I said something funny like: "say Kimchi!" It always cracks them up.

Me and Andrew the owner/barkeep. Very sweek Kiwi.

This past Friday night headed to PNU's Soul Trane for the first time and it lived up to all the hype I'd been hearing about it for the past few months despite the fact that the guys I was supposed to do with bailed on me. No big deal, met up with a teacher at my school named Kyung Mi and she was pretty cool I have to say, her boyfriend was a singer in one of the bands there that night. Also made a friend! Very cool Canaidan chick Becky and her boyfriend also a teacher here in Busan. They were a lot of fun and we had a great time, tequila shots and dancing and bitching about Korea. It was great. Was a good girl, didn't get into any trouble or flirt too badly, though by the end of the night a bunch of guys I knew showed up and I did take the opportunity to lay on some goodbye kisses. Flirt that I am. Oh, also, was informed that apparently I was that nights topic of conversation at my local pub but when I pumped for more information my informant clammed up and would only say: "nothing bad though, nothing bad." Hm.

Been a bit of a lazy git these past few weeks, napping in the afternoon and going to bed at 9 p.m. so as to get my beauty sleep. Mostly trying to stay out of trouble at the local pubs actually which was going well for me until this past Wednesday. But back on track.
