Happy Birthday Mom!

Leaving On A JetPlane

Yes, that's right folks -- I'm done!!!

The school didn't find anyone to replace me and had to cancel next months classes, which is good for me because it means I can stay in the apartment until I fly out tomorrow. Good news.

Went out with C.J. (English name) and Jerry (Dong Young) last night and "happened" to run into Shawna (the english teacher I replaced -- she's back in Korea, working for the summer). We ate Galbi (BBQ beef marinated in soy sauce) and Sum Gyup Sal (Pork); drank soju (tastes like vodka but weaker and beer. We ate at this place just around the corner from the school, they had outdoor picnic tables with bar-b-q coals in the middle and because it was a hot night it was great to sit outside.

After we went to a Korean pub and drank pretty decent draft beer -- I drank too much and talked to0 much about toilets in China and such. Oops.

Supposed to go to a pro baseball game at 5 today but doubt I'll make it. I've still got lots of packing to do.

Oh, biggest news of the week happend on Tuesday night. Chris convinced me to go to Open Mike night in PNU because he wanted me to sing (cause he thinks I have a good voice!) I drank two pints and after much cajoling -- I did! Got up there with the guitar and sang Jewel (was there ever any doubt?) "who will save ur soul" and "Redemption Song" by Mr. Bob Marley.

A few people said I did good!! Even if they're lying -- I'll take it!

However, I did stay out until 430am; couldn't get up for class at 6 and came in an hour late, got grief from the secretaries. Second oops. One of the longest days of my life. But I am now, officially a free agent! 'Manda no worky! 'Manda no worky!

Poooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool Tiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Cheers!

The Final Countdown

We are in the final countdown folks--my last week in Korea! Just 5 teaching days left. Wow, now that the end is here it doesn't seem like it was a long year at all. Actually, I was just starting to get comfortable here and could've stayed another year if only they'd given me a month vacation...

This month I went out way too much but I did have a lot of fun. Went to some clubs at Haeundae I'd never been to before, stayed out till all hours of the night. Had a couple of men on the hook but didn't reel them in for reasons I'll discolse only at patio time.

Went to Gwanan beach last Sunday and had a really nice time; walked the shore then stopped in for a steak and lobster lunch on the outside deck-- my first ever here. Was sublime.

The school gave me my flight ticket home -- July 1st, connecting in Japan and Detroit before landing in Toronto. As far as I know they still haven't found a teacher to replace me, but then they always do things last minuite here.

The new teacher Chris is already talking about leaving. He spent the last ten years between Miami and Italy and is finding Korea...lacking. Don't know if he'll be here when I return but hope so, he's kinda fun (stricktly friends I swear). He was my "wingman" last weekend and helped me hook up with a guy I thought was foxy at the pub.

Anyway, it's early here, the beginning of what I hope will be a beautiful weekend. Lots of stuff to get rid of in my apartment this week! But maybe I'll put that off and take a stroll on the beach? Maybe...maybe not....maybe.....maybe not....

This is a pic of Chris.
Why Men Marry Bitches

So "R" is a complete asshole -- which, fair enough was glaringly obvious to everyone except me; that is until he kisses that hooker right in front of me. Rewind. Here's the scoop:

I'm not going to go into all the details without a patio and a coronona that is (now I have neither). Suffice it to say he's a dick and I finally get it!! We are not speaking.

After that night I was truly bitter and happened to see a book called "Why Men Marry Bitches". In my mood I was soooo buying that book. Bought another one too: "He's just not that into You." Read them both in one 4 hr, lazy afternoon wherein I smoked a pack of cigarettes, dranks more than a few bottles of beer, laughed my guts out and was...enlightened. The first was a breakdown of Men's playbooks -- and I get it now! Everything makes sense. All I can say is "how did I NOT get it before?" And the other was just freeing. I know that sounds trite but I'm gonna say it anyway, I feel empowered and free. Yes, I know how that sounds and I even crindge a little as I write it but there is no other way to explaine it -- I get it now! Anyway, ladies, read the books and we'll discuss...

I met the new english teacher at our school. His name is Chris and he's friendly and fun. Been showing him around and tookthe liberty of hooking him up with "Emily" but I don't know how well that's going just yet.

We're all going to Poker night tonight (I've been practicing).

Today is a holiday, so I didn't have to drag my sorry self to work but I had a cold so I couldn't go out last night; slept A LOT and I'm feeling much better today.
